2012 will be the year if the campervan! (Well, Eurovans thinks so)

It's not even half way through winter yet but Eurovans is already thinking about the summer months. Not only are we looking forward to sunny days and warm nights (hopefully), we are also very excited about the fact that Eurovans will be offering California Campervans again!

Meet the Volkswagen California. Reminisant of the split-window campervan, the California will come in very useful during the festival season and if you can't afford a holiday to the Bahamas.

The California boasts four wheel drive, a fridge, cooker and sleeping accommodation for up to four people. Much more comfortable than a tent I would say!

Few other car manufacturers build bespoke campervans, but you can buy or build a conversion from a van or you could opt for a coach-built motorhome, though they tend to be expensive. Although the California has many perks, it lacks washing or toilet facilities making it more of a couple-of-nights-away-from-home type of vehicle.

Is it Right for You?

If you have a hobby or interest, like motor racing, fishing or music festivals, which takes you away from home a couple of nights at a time, it is perfect.

The interior is cleverly laid out with seats that slide, rotate and fold, numerous drawers and hidden cubbies, an awning that can be winched out and a canvas roof that is raised electrically.

There are even two tables stowed smartly away, one that you can pull out into the middle of the floor between the two sets of seats, the other a fold-out table that you can take outside. In a pouch in the boot are two deckchairs, while inside there's a small wardrobe, and a fridge that runs off its own battery supply.

The Transporter Sportline

The Volkswagen Transporter Sportline. A jack of all trades, the van will lug a kitchen sink around during the day and give the Mondeos and Vectras hogging the outside lane a fright at night.

Volkswagen have taken the regular Transporter and has added on body-coloured bumpers and door handles, newly chromed grille, snazzy side rails and a rear spoiler. The Sportline runs on 18-inch six-spoke alloys, sitting 30mm closer to the ground thanks to lowered Eibach springs.

Eurovans at Eastbourne Extreme 16th-17th July

Eurovans will be at Eastbourne Extreme this weekend and we want to see you there! Eastbourne Extreme is held on the Eastbourne seafront and is the UK's most intense FREE sports festival. The event features a wide range of outdoor activities including air, land and water based pursuits. Some of the events included are:

Eurovans at Paddle Around the Pier

Eurovans had a pitch at Paddle Around the Pier last Saturday and Sunday. It was a tremendous event and the sun was shining the whole weekend which brought the crowds out and generated a lot of interest in our display of vans. At our pitch, we had the new Amarok, a Transporter, Caravelle and Caddy.

Overall, it was a brilliant event for Eurovans and increased awareness and interest in the brand. We hope to see you at our next event!

Lanes Kawasaki Racing Weekend

LANES KAWASAKI SPONSORED BY EUROVANS

It was a big weekend for the Lanes Kawasaki team with Alex and James both in action. The Lanes Kawasaki, who is sponsored by Eurovans, made the long journey to the Desert Martin Track in Northern Ireland for the 5th Round of the Maxxis British Championship and the second round of the youth MXYZ Championship.

Alex

In the MX1 Practice, Alex managed to qualify 7th which put him into the super pole where he eventually ended in 8th position, giving him a good opportunity on the start gate. During the MX1 Race, Alex came across the line in a very respectable 4th place and in the MX2 race he was placed 5th. In the final race, Alex finished 6th giving him 4th place overall on the day.

James

In the MXY2, James started the session on his race bike but the suspension set up wasn't to his liking so in the last 5 minutes of the qualifying session, James changed to his number 2 bike where he got one last lap in and qualified 3rd which also put him in a good position on the gate.

In the MXY2 Race 1, James finished in first place. In the MXY2 Race 2, however, disaster struck. James got cross rutted up the face of a jump which sent him out of the track; he landed in a deep water filled ditch which made it impossible for him to get out of and was unable to carry on the race.

Paddle Around the Pier

Eurovans is at Paddle Around the Pier this weekend and we would like to see you there!

Europe's largest annual beach festival returns to the Brighton and Hove beachfront from Saturday 2nd July to Sunday 3rd July. The event is absolutely free to all members of the public and the 2011 annual event is set to be bigger and better than previous years and there will be land and air sport demonstrations and exhibitions, retail stalls; live music performances and entertainment for all of the family.

This is a charitable event and all of the proceeds raised will be donated to the RNLI, the Teenage Cancer Trust and Surf Relief. The main water based event, Paddle Around the Pier, is the world's biggest water sports raffle with hundreds of paddlers participating in 2010. The will also be numerous land based activities occurring. Ranging from from Skateboarding to Tai Chi & Self Defence Workshops which the public can take part in.

The weather also looks as though it will be on our side with sunshine forecasted for Saturday AND Sunday! So why not come down and have a look and make you pop by the Eurovans pitch where we will have the new Amarok on display. We look forward to seeing you!

Macmillan's Sponsored Walk

JACKIE’S SPONSORED WALK!

Our very own Jackie Snow will be doing a sponsored walk in aid of the Macmillan's Cancer Trust on the 3rd July. The walk will commence from the Aqua Club in Pevensey Bay and will end at the Cooden Beach Hotel.

Here is how you can help by sponsoring Jackie:

£143,273 - could fund a Macmillan nurse for 3 years, providing emotional and practical help to people affected by cancer and their families.

£105,333 - could fund one of Macmillan's new community based rehabilitation support teams.

£29,250 - will pay for a Macmillan benefits adviser to work in a Citizen's Advice Bureau for a year providing welfare benefits advice.

£3,333 - could keep a Macmillan cancer information and support centre stocked with all the information resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for a year.

£350 - could pay for a convalescent break for someone with cancer and their carer.

£51 - could buy a liquidizer for someone who can't eat solid food as a result of their cancer treatment.

£17.50 - could pay for one more member of a cancer support group to go on a social event with other support group members.
